Breakfast and lunch were exactly the same as yesterday.
I had a handful of bridge mix for a snack.
Then I had THE Cannoli. Let me explain:
There's a fairly new bakery in my town and I pass by it sometimes and always think I should go in a try it on a "splurge day". Every time I've tried to go there it was closed. It closes at 1 or something. Today I was driving by it with Dollface and it was open. I thought why not and asked Dollface if she wanted to stop at the "cookie store". She picked out a treat for herself and her grandparents. I had heard how wonderful the cannolies were and ordered one of those.
It looked so so good! Crispy, light shell and creamy inside. The crust was very good but the filling was gross. Way too heavy and way way too sweet. But I ate it all. Why? I'm not really sure. Once I started it, I couldn't stop. I'm not sure if I was looking for the sugar "buzz" or just didn't want to throw it away.
Anyway it was approx. 400 calories "wasted". I still stayed within my calorie range for the day by having a bowl of cereal for supper. 1765/1930. And at least now my curiosity is satiated. I can drive by the bakery without stopping and tell myself it's really not worth it because I now know it's not.
I have two occasions to eat out in the next two days so I'm trying to mentally prepare and have a strategy. Salad will be part of that strategy.
Still sticking with 50 Shades. The main character is growing on me a little, much to my surprise.
This is a huge step forward realizing you don't have to finish something just because you started it. It doesn't matter that you finished it, you realized you don't have to. I'm still not that great at it, but getting better.
ReplyDeleteThis is the stuff that sucess is made of my friend.
First of all...congratulations on staying within your caloric range! And big congrats for three weeks of consistent weight loss! That's really awesome and I'm so excited for you!
ReplyDeleteEating out used to always be a challenge for me. Now that I've developed a taste and even a craving sometimes for yummy salads, I will usually select a salad if it's got lots of yummies in it, such as dried fruit, pecans or other nuts, artichoke hearts, etc.
If they don't have that, then I'll usually get grilled fish with steamed veggies. Yum!
Another option that I often do, is to split an entree with someone else. Restaurant dishes are often way over-sized anyway. I love when I can split a dish with someone, save money, and walk away not feeling stuffed.
Ultimately, I've decided that my weight loss is not necessarily about losing weight, but rather a complete overhaul of my lifestyle & eating choices. Getting used to eating smaller portions was difficult for me. So, I got smaller plates to help me with portion control.
Just some suggestions. I love that you prepare yourself mentally for possible obstacles.
Its great that you are sticking with your calorie count. Eating out is always a challenge but its surprising how many things can actually be fairly healthy.
ReplyDeleteThis is what I do when eating out, particularly if its a few days in a row. Start with a small side salad (dressing on side). Most speciality salads can be very high in calories so I usually avoid them. For entree I have grilled chicken or blackened fish with steamed veggies. If you like pototoes then I suggest baked with salsa on top, and not cheese/sour cream. And as "the mommy" says most portions are too big, so I always only eat half and save the rest for lunch.
Oh and another suggestion is that if you know the restaurant where you will be going, check the menu online beforehand that way you can decide in advance what you are having and any substitutions you want to make.
I hope you find this helpful :-) Keep up the good work, hope your knee is doing better.
Awesome suggestion, Sunflower! I love the suggestion of checking out the menu online before-hand! I am going to implement that idea for myself.
DeleteAnd yea...if I'm eating alone, then I'll just go ahead and tell the waitress to only bring out half of the entree & pack up the rest to go. That way, It's not even on my plate & I'm not tempted.
